Do you know the max that your EV will charge on AC power? Every car has a different AC and DC charging capacity. The easiest way to find out what your cars max AC charging capacity is to look it up on the internet. If you are in the market for a new EV that is one of many things you should take into consideration. In case you are new to EV’s there is generally a direct correlation to the charging rate of kw to battery size. The larger the battery the higher the charging rate kw. For example if your car has a 76kw battery it could have a 11.5kw/h max AC charging rate. So if you divide 11.5 by 76 you get 6.6 hours to charge the car from dead to full. It is better for your battery not to let it go below 20% capacity and not above 80% capacity. If you keep to this standard the it would only take 4 hours to charge your car. I hope this helps better understand some of the differences in charging an electric vehicle.
